Our customer is one of the most reputed and India’s largest passenger car maker. The Company is engaged in the business of manufacturing and sale of passenger vehicles in India. They are having multiple manufacturing units in India.

Challenge

  • Protection and human safety with existing FCMA starter as one of the starter panel blasted in short circuit/internal arc fault.

  • Vibrations and noise during starting.

  • Weather to go for VFD or soft-starter.

  • Management approval for higher price solution over FCMA.

  • Replacement of fluid coupling with flexible coupling.

  • Requirement of a reliable solution for critical compressors.

  • Turnkey retrofit project.

Solution

After a detailed discussion on selection for suitable starting method, it has been decided to go for soft-starter only being a fixed speed operation. We have received a turnkey solution of replacement of existing FCMA starter with New Thyristor based Soft-starter. An internal arc type tested Thyristor based Soft-starter has been supplied for smooth start of 11kV motor.
