Cement production is very energy intensive process. Much of the energy used is consumed by electric motors. Still today, many of these motors are constantly running at full speed regardless of actual output requirements, wasting a tremendous amount of energy. In many applications, energy use can be cut by up to 30 percent by controlling motors with variable speed drives.
